Below is a brief overview of our committees. We currently are in urgent need of NON-BUILDING volunteers. Specifically in Fund Raising, Volunteer Relations and Church Relations. If you have an interest in any one these commitees, please contact us for more information. We are in urgent need for an energetic person to lead our Volunteer Relations Committee and volunteers to be part of this very critical committee. Site Selection Committee - This committee identifies adequate and appropriate land for Habitat for Humanity of Ravalli County so that the organization’s goals are met at the lowest cost. Activities of this committee include: · Research land that is listed for sale, bankruptcy, tax lien, foreclosure or otherwise identified as being available or of interest to Habitat for Humanity of Ravalli County. This research should include current ownership, market value, and all issues affecting best use · Work with other appropriate committees and Board of Directors to promote the donation of land, or purchase agreements where a portion of the land’s value is donated · As necessary, draft proposals and policies for the Board of Directors. This may include site guidelines, proposals for subdivision development, etc. · Create and maintain detailed records of the committee’s work to help new committee members clearly understand the committee’s history and operations Building Committee - This committee is responsible for overseeing the construction of homes, approving plans, and addressing safety issues. Activities of this committee include: · Continually seeking to improve the quality of construction through design, materials and techniques. · Meeting the needs of the Partner Families by making improvements to the homes Family Selection Committee- This committee chooses Partner Families. Activities of this committee include: · Planning and implementing the family selection process each year (or as needed) · Planning and executing workshops on topics relevant to homeowners and low-income families Family Support Committee -This committee works closely with Partner Families to ensure they are successful in their new home ownership and continue to have a positive relationship with Habitat. Activities of this committee include: · Working with the Family Sponsor to ensure the Partner Family satisfies partnership requirements · Maintain communications with all present and past Partner Families Finance Committee -This committee oversees the affiliate’s financial activities, provides guidance to the treasurer, provides a plan for economic growth and the stability of the organization. Activities of this committee include: · Help with budget and audit functions, review financials & advise the Board of Directors · Recommend financial policies to the Board and, once approved, make sure they are followed · Write and maintain financial and accounting procedure manual for the affiliate · Outline a financial plan for future growth, review current policies and practices and advise · Evaluate Mortgages · Work with Site Development Committee to Identify a plan for future land purchases/donations, etc. · Help out on special projects when needed (i.e. determining which mortgages can be sold, etc.) Church Relations Committee -This committee cultivates relationships between Habitat and local churches, seeks new Covenant Churches, and maintains ties with current Covenant Churches. Activities of this committee include: · Work closely with other committees to ensure that Habitat needs are promoted in local churches · Arrange for presentations, information tables, flyers, etc to raise awareness about Habitat in local churches Fund Raising Committee -This committee is responsible for raising sufficient funds for the organization each year as determined by the Board of Directors. Activities of this committee include: · Develop a fund raising plan to meet the organization's funding needs for the coming year · Effectively utilize the help of all Board members in fund raising efforts · Utilize a variety of fund raising efforts, from events to grants, to invoke support from all segments of the community Public Relations Committee -This committee seeks to build and maintain the community's awareness of Habitat in ways that accurately reflect its mission, beliefs, and image. It is responsible for making final publicity decisions for Habitat events and campaigns. Activities of this committee include: · Develop a Public Relations plan to build and maintain public awareness about Habitat · Work with other committees to provide educational materials such as brochures, fact sheets, and affiliate histories · Provide adequate media coverage for Habitat activities Volunteer Relations Committee - This committee is responsible for creating and implementing a program to recruit, manage, and appreciate Habitat volunteers. Activities of this committee include: · Develop and maintain volunteer contacts with individuals and groups throughout the community · Meet Habitat's need for volunteers for committees, events, building construction, etc · Meet the volunteers' needs · Ensure a good experience for volunteers There are many ways for you to get involved with Habitat for Humanity of Ravalli County.
